How do I become Catholic?
The Catholic Church has a process known as RCIA – “Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults,” through which adults wishing to become Catholic enter the Church. This process begins with a meeting with a parish staff member to determine one’s faith background. It takes into consideration each person’s religious experience and spiritual needs, and also whether one has been baptized or not. (The Catholic Church recognizes as valid the baptisms of other mainstream Christian religions that use water and the formula, “I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.”)
If one has not been baptized, called “Catechumens,” the RCIA process will include the sacraments of baptism, confirmation and Eucharist. Those who have already been validly baptized, called “Candidates,” will receive the sacraments of confirmation and Eucharist.
“Inquiry” is the first part of the RCIA process. During this initial process, a person is introduced to the Catholic faith tradition. All questions are welcome and worthy of a response! Following the “Inquiry” process, a person has a choice whether to continue their journey toward joining the Catholic Church. If he or she chooses to continue the process, that person moves into the next phase, when the entire faith community prays with and supports the person as he or she continues and deepens their conversion in faith.
If you, or anyone you know, is interested in becoming Catholic, please contact Deb Hamm, Parish Director, at 920-994-4380.
Am I expected to put money in the offering?
If you are visiting with us, we don't expect you to put money in the offering, and you are welcome to just let it pass you by. If you consider our parishes your church home, we'd love for you to prayerfully consider giving on a weekly basis. You can give by check or cash during the service, or you can sign up for online giving here.
Minimum suggested church support levels are as follows:
- 2024 Tax Year: Married Couples - $27 per week = $1,400 per calendar year. | Singles or Mixed Religion Marriages - $13.50 per week = $700 per calendar year.
- 2025 Tax Year: Married Couples - $33 per week = $1,700 per calendar year. | Singles or Mixed Religion Marriages - 16.50 per week = $850 per calendar year.
For those parishioners on fixed incomes or who are financially unable, we ask that you give what you can afford.
I'm not familiar with the Catholic Mass. How do I follow along?
In the pews there will be books for the music and readings. In the Breaking Bread book the order of the Mass is in the very beginning followed by the readings for each date. If you have any questions, an usher would be happy to assist you.
