How many people can truly say that they love coming to work each day? Well you’re about to hear from a lady who does! Hello my name is Carla Schommer and I am the 2nd grade teacher here at Divine Savior Catholic School. When I leave my classroom each night I go home to my husband Jon and our 3 children Abraham, Ivy, and Oakley. Let’s just say I’m always around kids and I love it!
I enjoy hiking , rollerblading with my dog Jett, listening to music, enjoying time with my friends, and hanging out at my family's dairy farm. Outside of school I also keep busy volunteering in 4-H and our church. I have been involved with 4-H since I was in 3rd grade and love seeing our DSCS students in the program. I feel teaching our students about volunteering and encouraging them to help others is important. I also feel supporting our students outside of the classroom shows them the commitment that teachers have to their students.
I find myself taking a second and enjoying the moment that my students have created knowing that I too had some of those same great experiences within these walls. I took over 2nd grade for my old 2nd grade teacher, Vicki Jasper, back in 2013. Being able to teach at a school that has done so much for me is an honor.
