Staff Member: Michele Pierson
Hello, I am the 4K teacher, Michele Pierson. This year is my 10th year of teaching 4K at DSCS, and I can assure you that each year is an adventure! First off, I would like to introduce you to my family. My husband Jeff and I have two daughters, Paige who is 19 and Kenna who is 17. Paige is a busy high school senior who is involved not only in the high school band, but also two youth symphonies outside of school. Currently Paige started her first year in college. Kenna is a junior who spends much of her time participating in sports. She runs cross country, and plays both basketball and soccer. Their activities definitely keep us busy!
The 4K classroom is a special place to be because we work hard on learning how to be independent. In our classroom we thrive on structure and organization. I tell my parents that 4K is about exposure and repetition. I introduce concepts to the kids and then I continue to present the students with that information in a variety of ways. We learn through song, through rhymes, and most importantly, through play. We make learning fun and most times, the kids don’t even realize that they are grasping a concept!
